Ranghasayee is a law Graduate and completed his B.B.A. LLB. (Hons) at School of Law, Sastra University. He is associated with AMA, assisting in research and legal support in the field of corporate laws especially Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code 2016.

Biography

He has been part of the team which represented a group of homebuyers before the TN RERA Authority and obtained a landmark order against one of the reputed builders in the City to pay repay the homebuyers. He has also been involved in advising Builders and Developers in the various compliances and nuances of this nascent Real Estate law.

He is part of the team which has handled matters at the Hon’ble Madras High Court, NCLT, DRT. He has also been involved in providing research pertaining to various legal intricacies relating to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

He has broad exposure in corporate debt restructuring related issues and has worked on various advisories, opinions on issues relating to debt restructuring and stressed companies. He has been a part of several complex IBC cases involving personal guarantor issues and promoter issues. He also represents the firm in various arbitration matters.

CASES HANDLED

  • Represented a Financial creditor on behalf of the Debenture Holders and obtained an order against the RP to accept the amounts claimed under the category of Maturity Premium.
  • Currently advising the majority shareholders in an Indian Corporate Entity in the Power sector in negotiating with a minority shareholders in successful closure of the problems in the management of the Company.
  • Represented an Operational Creditor against a RP and successfully got a claim amount approx Rs 4.2 Crs admitted (rejected initially) – involved complexities of dual claims & multi-party transactions.
  • Assisted in a complex corporate insolvency matter representing a resolution professional in the steel sector on various issues beginning with non-cooperation from various stakeholders including ex-management, treatment of claims, advisory on resolution plan, challenge to resolution plan at NCLT and NCLAT.
  • Represented an association of homebuyers before the TNRERA Authority and obtained an order of refund against one of the reputed builders in the City.
  • Filed an Interlocutory Application before the Hon'ble Adjudicating Officer of TNRERA seeking punitive actions including Imprisonment against a well-known Real Estate Developer for non-compliance of the Orders of the Tribunal.
  • Represented a Mumbai based company undergoing CIR process before the Hon'ble Madras High court and instrumental in recovering a Bank Guarantee for a substantial amount from the Hon’ble Official Liquidator of the High Court
  • Represented a leading Asset Reconstruction Company before the Hon’ble Debt Recovery Tribunal and successfully defended the action of enforcement of security provided by the Borrower.
  • Currently representing a consortium of operational creditors from the textile sector for substantial dues owed to them in an arbitration and the related legal proceedings in the Hon’ble Madras High Court.
